Focal nodular hyperplasia of the liver: a rational approach to treatment.

چکیده
Focal nodular hyperplasia of the liver in a 3 year old child has been successfully treated by ligation of the hepatic artery branches supplying the lesion. The prominence of the abnormal vasculature in the lesion and its possible aetiological involvement is stressed. Because of the risks of partial hepatectomy, hepatic artery ligation is suggested as the treatment of choice for focal nodular hyperplasia.

CT-Value (△HU and CT-Value ratioin) differential diagnosis of small hepatocellular carcinoma from focal nodular hyperplasia
Background: The objective was to explore the value of the CT value difference (△HU) and CT value ratio (CVR) between the hepatic arterial (AP), portal (PP), and delayed phases (DP) to differentiate the small Hepatocellular Carcinoma (SHCC, ≤ 3 cm) from the small Focal nodular hyperplasia (SFNH, ≤ 3 cm). Materials and Methods: All the lesions were confirmed by clinically and/or pathologically an...
متن کاملFocal nodular hyperplasia of the liver associated with intracranial vascular malformations.
Focal nodular hyperplasia of the liver, neoplasia of the brain, and intracranial vascular malformations have recently been described as a new syndrome. We report three cases of focal nodular hyperplasia of the liver with intracranial vascular anomalies. Two patients died from ruptured berry aneurysm. It is important to consider intracranial pathology in patients with focal nodular hyperplasia o...
متن کاملFocal nodular hyperplasia of the liver: a link with sickle cell disease?
Focal nodular hyperplasia is a benign liver tumour that is rare in children. We report the second case of a child with sickle cell disease presenting with symptomatic focal nodular hyperplasia. The possible pathogenesis of focal nodular hyperplasia and the association with sickle cell disease are discussed.
متن کاملFocal nodular hyperplasia and hepatic regenerating nodules in pediatric oncology patients: how much invasive approach is necessary?

An increased incidence of these lesions is reported in children treated for cancer. MATERIAL AND METHODS Eight children who developed FNH and HRN after treatment for malignancies in the Oncology unit at the "Bambino Gesù" Pediatric Hos...
متن کاملAn atypical case of focal nodular hyperplasia. Problems of imagistic diagnosis.
Focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH) is a hepatic disease first described in 1958. The existence of an accessible and minimally invasive imagistic investigation to establish the diagnosis in a large number of cases would be desirable, especially because once diagnosed, the disease needs no treatment. We present the case of a young woman with long term use of oral contraceptives in which the diagnosi...
